Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great weekend celebrating with Adam's Dad and Stepmom. They flew into town on Tuesday night and stayed until Saturday. While they were here we played football, went on an amazing hike in Sierra Madre (My new favorite Town!), shopped around Beverly Hills and Santa Monica and ate lots and lots of good food. It was so nice to spend the long weekend with them and our friends. They also spent a lot of time with Kailey and I think they agree that she is one cute little kitty!

Football on Thursday Morning!

We decorated our house Sunday night and trimmed the Tree!

My School Was Re-Named!

Yesterday my school where I worked was re-named to CHIME Institute's Schwarzenegger Community Charter. I know what you are thinking...Schwarzenegger??? Why him??? I thought the same thing at first but after hearing more about his passion for Charter schools and the amazing work of his wife Maria Shriver and her Mother, especially dealing with Special Education It seemed a good fit. As most of you know our school is a model campus for inclusion and we strive hard to make sure that belonging is not something earned but something everyone is granted the moment they walk through our door. We recently merged the middle school and elementary school onto one campus and our old name of CHIME Charter Elementary was no longer appropriate and the word Schwarzenegger is such a great spelling word for the kids! With the help of Maria Shriver we quickly become the new and exciting Schwarzenegger Community Charter. We had a really great re-naming ceremony yesterday where Arnold, his wife, three of his children and other representatives from the state and district came out. I have included some pictures of the big day. The best part was when he left he said, "I'll be back!" The kids loved that part!!!

Adam-Grad School

Adam started his MBA classes at Cal State Channel Islands tonight. He is very excited to be stepping into the role of student-something I am hoping will continue to pass onto me as I continue to embark on my education. ;-)

Happy Fall to you all!!!

113 Degrees....Welcome to LA's Fall

Fall just began and we kicked it off with 113 degrees in downtown LA and up to 118 in the valley. When I think I am amazed with LA's weather it just keeps on surprising me. Teaching in LA can be a little crazy at times. When it rains we keep the kids inside because I get we are afraid of them melting and today we had to keep them inside because of the heat. Again, I guess we are afraid of them melting. If this is what fall is going to look like I think I am taking a trip to the East Coast where kid's lunches don't melt from heat in the Fall.

Grad School

I just started my grad school classes last week and am throughly enjoying being back in the classroom as a student. I am getting my master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy and also I will receive my Administrator's Credential. Both professors have had a lot of real life experience in education and have served as principals, worked within their district offices and one of them is currently the superintendent of Ventura County. I already feel that I learned a tremendous amount from them both. So if we decide to move up to Ventura County you will know why. ;-)

Adam is keeping busy with work and trying to enjoy the last few weekends of summer. We spent last Saturday down at the beach playing beach volleyball with our friends.

School starts next Tuesday with my 21 2nd graders!!! I will post pictures of the room soon.

Mexico-Puerto Vallarta

Adam and I just got back from our trip to Puerto Vallarta where we celebrated not having to work and our one year anniversary. This was our first international trip as a couple! We exchanged our time share and stayed at the Villa Del Palmar-Flamingos, which is an amazing resort with an endless pool, abundance of coconut trees, and right on the beach. We spent the week sunbathing, exploring the closest town (Bucaries), reading, swimming, eating, making friends by the pool, sailing (where I almost went for a swim), exploring an old town of San Sebastian, feeding stray animals, and relaxing. The weather was sunny and very humid most of the day but because this is their rainy season the storms would come in at night and often we would get rain, thunder, and lightening. I have included some photos of the trip and we hope you enjoy!

While venturing down the beach we stopped to have drinks
and eat some food from the local vendors.
This local restaurant was about 20 min walking distance
from our resort.
Our Dinner!!! 20 Pesos!

Here we are Sailing!

Waiting to go Sailing with my new Friend

On our Tour of San Sabastain
The Hacienda Built in 1700s
The view from our resort

This was one of the highlights of the trip. A random guy came up and started rubbing Adam's neck and wouldn't stop! I couldn't stop laughing at how strange the whole situation felt.

We found a our own little getaway while
staying in Puerto Vallarta. The food was excellent and
the drinks were only $1!

Our own personal iguana on our patio-tastes like Chicken!

Welcome

Hi Family and Friends and Welcome to the Freer House!
We figured this would be a nice way to keep you all updated on our lives since most of you live in another state and we can't always make it for coffee dates, dinner and dessert on Grandma's Porch, and family time at the lake. We plan on posting on this blog so we can share all of our experiences with you and hopefully hear from you. So, in hopes to stay more connected with those we love so dearly, here is our blog.

Hope you enjoy and love to you all,
Adam, Rosanne and Kailey
